Randy passed at his Oswego home on Jan 13, 2026. Born Sept 21, 1951, in Savanna, IL, he grew up in Galena & graduated from Galena HS. He loved sports & adventure, with lifelong passions for golf, hunting, fishing, boating, skiing, & flying small airplanes. His laughter & jovial spirit lit up the room.

Randy attended UIUC, where he joined Beta Theta Pi & the a cappella group The Other Guys. He completed his degree at UD (Dubuque) & married his college sweetheart, Jane. Though later divorced, they remained lifelong friends.

Randy worked in his family’s businesses, Savanna Construction & Willowa Engineering. As project lead & crane operator, he was proud to do “the impossible,” lifting the pedestrian bridge in Galena into place with two small cranes. He served as CEO of State Bank of the Lakes for 20+ yrs. He was active with Antioch Rotary, PM&L Theatre, & McHenry Country Club, where he won the club championship in 1990.

In retirement, Randy devoted his time to family, friendships, music, & bridge, playing nearly every day. He sang in choirs, attended concerts by his favorite band Seventh Heaven, cheered at his grandkids’ games, & loved teaching them to fish.

Randy is survived by siblings Doug (Lindah) Miles & Cyndy (Jimmy) Stout; children Lauren Miles, Audra (James Pecaro) Jentel, & Charles (fiancé Michelle) Miles; grandkids; nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by parents Dorothy & Edwin Miles, son-in-law Chris, & niece Cherish.
